Stories from Bury Park inspired by touch.
'Touchstone Tales' is a co-commission by Revoluton Arts and Wellcome Collection — an organisation that uses science and art to challenge how we think and feel about health.
Touch Commission recipient, award-winning playwright and actor, Sudha Bhuchar, has been given the task of exploring the theme of touch with people in Bury Park using the medium of arts and creativity.
Sudha will present the results of her work at a live creative event in Bury Park in autumn 2020.
The Touch Commission is part of a new Wellcome Collection study into touch.
This research project aims to understand the similarities and differences in our experiences of touch, with the aim of increasing our understanding of its role in health and wellbeing.
The results of the study will be explored in a new series on BBC Radio 4, The Anatomy of Touch, in October 2020.
Gathering stories in Bury Park
Starting in early 2020, Sudha has been working in Bury Park exploring the theme of touch with the people who live there.
Through a series of workshops and engagement activities, Sudha has recorded personal stories and self-portraits relating to the theme of touch.
The material she has collected will shape her writing of 'Touchstone Tales' — stories from Bury Park inspired by touch.
