With over 20 years of teaching and community arts engagement, her work explores and celebrates the lived experience of women of working class backgrounds and marginalized communities and examines themes of mental health , political and social injustice.
She works in innovative ways in making art engagement inclusive and acsessible and always looks at ways of evolving from the status quo.
Shemiza is heard across Inspirefm , RadioLab , SoundArt Radio and BBC three counties Radio .
Her creative writing experience has enabled her to work as judge and mentor to new artists and writers at the British Museum , Globe theatre, New Voices , Tamasha theatre ,Paines Plough . Young Muslim writers awards.
Her theater making credits include;
