For Lutonians who want to connect with their local landscapes.
Info
A truly Luton monument is in the works and here’s how you can be a part of it:
Join artist, Matthew Rosier, as he facilitates an exploration of what a Luton Henge could be – What and who does it represent? What does is it celebrate? What rituals take place there? What is it made of, and what might it look like?
In Summer 2025, residents and makers will come together from across the landscape to build a community monument in Marsh Farm, echoing the monuments built by the first settlers at Waulud’s Bank thousands of years ago.
But first, this event invites you to contribute written ideas or drawings at an evening that will host a range of invited speakers and community leaders.
This will be followed by the first public reading of Lee Nelson’s new poetry collection co-created with the Luton community in response to the Chilterns National Landscape.
This event is part of artist Matthew Rosier’s ‘Luton Henge’ project: a new community monument made from the Chilterns landscape, inspired by its ancient sites and stories. Opening in Summer 2025, it’ll serve as a platform for community events and performances, celebrating the culture of Luton today.
