Baking and Breaking Bread Together @ All Saints Church Bury Park

About Us is an epic series of events and installations brought to you by 59 Productions, the Poetry Society and Stemettes, in collaboration with Revoluton, as part of UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK.

In April 2022, Luton will host a spectacular large-scale show, bringing together projection mapping, animation, music, poetry and live performance to celebrate our extraordinary connections to everything around us.

We can't wait, and in anticipation of this amazing event we are inviting you to explore some of the themes of this epic event through monthly events, gatherings and moments.

For December, we invite you (and your taste buds) to join us in the age-old tradition of sharing and breaking bread together. Not only is bread-making a 10,000 year old tradition, it’s a staple in our diets: a symbol that is integral to many celebrations and religious ceremonies around the world. So join us for this ten thousand year old tradition of sharing and breaking bread with a warm cup of vegetable soup or if you're looking for something with a bit of spice why not enjoy a bowl of dhal and chapatti.

We’ll be at Tokko Youth Space, 7 Gordon Street, Luton Town Centre on 3rd December 3.30pm till 7pm with ‘How to make bread’ demonstrations every half hour. You will also find us at All Saints Church, Shaftsbury Road, Bury Park, Luton on Thursday 9th December 3.30pm till 7pm.

Let bread unite us! As part of our Baking and Breaking Bread Together event we want you to share your stories, pictures, jokes and videos about bread with us. The breaking and sharing of bread has bought people together for thousands of years and we know there are some incredible stories and recipes all centred around bread. What’s your tip for baking the perfect loaf? Are you partial to a bloomer or are you more of a tiger lover?

Submissions will be posted on Revoluton Arts social media sites between 26th November and 12th December.

You can submit a picture, audio or written story or a video.

This isn’t a competition it’s just a sharing, a sharing of stories about bread. What did one slice of bread say to the other? Don’t worry, tomorrow will be butter.
