Are you ready to go through a time portal?
Join artist, Matthew Rosier on a guided walk through time exploring Waulud’s Bank, an ancient monument celebrating the source of the River Lea, and the surrounding Marsh Farm area right here in Luton.
With help from archaeologist, Wendy Morrison, participants will learn how this site has been used across time – from its first inhabitants, through to its more recent stories, and exploring how we might respond to this through new uses.
During the walk, participants will be encouraged to collect samples of materials they find and are drawn to along the way. These will become part of a collection of materials that will inspire the Luton Henge.
Afterwards, participants will return to Marsh House to discuss exploring connections between ancient inhabitants of this landscape, and communities today, followed by lunch.
This walk is part of artist Matthew Rosier’s ‘Luton Henge’ project: a new community monument made from the Chilterns landscape, inspired by its ancient sites and stories. Opening in Summer 2025, it’ll serve as a platform for community events and performances, celebrating the culture of Luton today.
